On 18 January 2021, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas introduced a new 5,000-peso note featuring Lapulapu, a Filipoino hero who vanquished Portuguese conquistador Ferdinand Magellan and his army in their attempt to colonize Mactan Island. This is a non-circulating legal tender commemorative banknote.

The newly renamed Saudi Central Bank, formerly the Saudi Arabia Monetary Authority, introduced a new 200-riyal note on 25 April 2021 to commemorate the fifth anniversary of launching Vision 2030.
