Watermark Chinthe bust over value
Obverse Chinthe is a stylized leogryph (lion-like figure) depicted in Burmese iconography and Myanmar architecture, especially used as pair of guardians flanking the entrances of Buddhist pagodas and kyaung (or Buddhist monasteries). Nowadays, it’s one of the most recognizable symbol of Myanmar.
Reverse Karaweik, also known as Karaweik Hall and Karaweik Palace, is a palace/ship on the eastern shore of Kandawgyi Lake, in Yangon. The hall is a structure looking like two golden birds with a roof similar to a Pyatthat. The prow of the ship is built in the shape of a Karaweik, a bird from Burmese mythology.
